 “Montefoscana” is a lifetime project that rediscovers the past of a village, too ordinary to be written before, but too beautiful to be untold and relived.



It tells the history of nobody in particular, searches for nothing but dreams, created by everyday people of this village we call home.





As such is built on stories, told by the people we meet everyday. On "pravce (prafce)" as we call stories around here. But "pravit" can mean a lot of things, as you know, it means "to tell" something, as in our case of stories that are told, but it also means "to work, or do". So we rolled up our sleeves and opened our ears and hearts and started to work on bringing these stories to life.





So montefoscana will work as a real time museum, that you will be able to stay in, spend the night or two surrounded by this history, taste the sweetness of the recipes we gathered from the people that still live there and relive these stories the way we see and understand them. They might not be entirely accurate or true, after all no story is, but they are the fruit of passion and devotion to a land we feel honoured to call our home. And as every good story does we worship the heroes, and anti-heroes in it, exaggerate a bit on the romantic, and tend to forget the dark sides of life, told with our voices from the whispers of generations devoured by history, poverty and politics. We speak no language, believe in no gods, see no colours or politics but smell the inviting smells of freshly cut grass, a glass of fresh milk or a piece of delicious cheese. 




And invite you to enter these "pravce"as a reader, follower, supporter and soon as the main character in this beautiful story we chose to rein-act. All this is Montefoscana told briefly, but soon we'll tell you more. All you have to do is sit back and allow yourself to breath in this magic, and get carried away to the very top of this mountain, in this small village called Montefosca or Čàrni Vàrh. Trič, 3č (the game that could predict the future)

 Trič was a simple game played with three dice, approximately 3 cms big, made from "nagnoj" or "pušpan" local very hard woods, usually used for fences, since they were so hard they were believed to last forever.  Each of the dice had one face with either one, two or three holes. All other sides were blank.  They could be played by as many players as wanted, the main goal was to reach 13 points, each hole on the dice meaning one point. Since not much is known about this game we proceed to invent the missing rules by ourselves and the logic in other similar games. All 3 dice are to be thrown simultaneously by each player, and our special little paper can be used to write the score on it.  The winner should throw exactly 13 points, if he exceeded the number he or she should wait for the next turn. As history has it these dice were also used by "dehnar" (svečenik, pagan priest) or common people to predict the future. A written example was: "we decided if ...
